Became the Terminally Ill Supporting Male Lead’s Rabbit Spirit - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Lu Zhe’s living space was rather old and worn out. The narrow living room lacked the space for a dining table. By the window, there was a faded sofa and a coffee table, and right across stood a TV cabinet with a television. Everything was clear at a glance in the small space.
Su Ci was placed on the coffee table by Lu Zhe. She was a little surprised as she looked at the bowl of rabbit food placed in front of her. She leaned over to sniff it—there were hints of oatmeal, corn and grass. It was not unpleasant, but it doesn’t smell good either.
Had Lu Zhe finally realized that she was merely a young rabbit, not suitable and not particularly fond of carrots?
Su Ci was a person who cherished her life. In order to not starve to death, she took a few deep breaths and took a bite of rabbit food.
When the rabbit food was eaten, the taste of grass was very prominent.
While Su Ci nibbled on the rabbit food, Lu Zhe came over with a plate of stir-fried beef and placed it beside her. He then took a seat on the sofa, preparing to have his dinner.
The aroma was tantalizing.
The rich scent of meat filled the air. After smelling the taste, and then looking at the beautiful color and fragrant beef, Su Ci instantly felt that the rabbit food in her mouth was difficult to swallow.
Lu Zhe noticed that the rabbit that had been munching rabbit food stopped and stared blankly at the plate of beef before her, as if she was about to pounce on it the next moment.
The dark eyes finally showed a hint of fluctuation. Lu Zhe’s icy fingertips touched Su Ci’s pink bunny nose, his voice cold, “You can’t eat it.” The meat was stir-fried, salty and oily. It wasn’t suitable for her to eat.
With her nose being pressed, Su Ci’s eyes turned even redder.
Sob¹, how miserable. Now she had turned into a rabbit and can’t even eat meat.
Early in the morning, as the sky became brighter and the rain had stopped, the entire city seemed to have undergone a thorough wash. The air was filled with the scent of fresh grass and earth, brimming with vitality.
The room was rather narrow, just enough for a single bed which barely able to accommodate the tall and well-built teenager.
In his drowsy state, Lu Zhe felt something fluffy seemingly brushed against his arm, causing a tickling sensation. Opening his eyes, the depths of his dark gaze were clouded with sleepiness.
Turning his head sideways, he saw the snowball-like little rabbit had somehow made its way onto his bed, its fur rubbing against his arm, inching closer to him.
Lu Zhe pinched the rabbit and lifted it up to his eye level.
Suddenly facing the young man’s dark eyes, Su Ci was stunned. He woke up? She had planned to stealthily kiss him.
Su Ci had initially thought that she could easily get Lu Zhe to kiss her by acting cute. After all, it would be difficult for anyone to resist such an adorably soft little animal like her.
However, this did not include Lu Zhe.
Ever since he brought her home, apart from preparing food for her and occasionally patting her head, Lu Zhe had no other intimate interactions with her.
Lu Zhe was too cold and it was difficult to get close to him.
Now that her secret kiss plan failed, Su Ci was a little frustrated, and her two rabbit ears drooped feebly.
Such a small, snowball-like creature, pitifully drooping its ears, looked so cute that it made one’s heart flutter. Lu Zhe’s dark eyes stared at the little bunny in front of him, his gaze softening slightly. He lifted his other hand, gently pinching its long ears.
It felt fluffy and somewhat soft.
One should know that a rabbit’s ears have many blood vessels. When the tips of her ears were suddenly pinched by the young man’s cold fingers, Su Ci shivered all over, a and a strange numbing sensation spread throughout her body, causing Su Ci directly became limp.
Why are her ears so sensitive!
The little bunny in front of him was about the size of a palm, small enough to fit into a cup. A pair of bright red eyes shone like radiant rubies, gazing at him with a dazed look, melting people’s heart.
Lu Zhe played with the rabbit’s soft pink ears for a few more times. Feeling her tremble slightly in his palm, he slightly curled his lips.
…
The greenery inside the school was very well-maintained. After being washed by the rain, the leaves were bright green, white orchid petals littered the ground, filling the campus with their fragrance.
Zhao Youyou had regressed, however, after a night’s time, she had regained her composure.
In the morning, unlike her past life where she was ignorant and heeded her friend’s advice to wear heavy makeup, ruining her natural beauty, she now realized that at her fresh age of eighteen, she didn’t need any foundation to enhance her looks..
Smelling the long-lost fragrance of flowers on campus, she came to class in high spirits.
As she expected, the once noisy classroom turned silent the moment she stepped in.
Zhao Youyou generously faced the shocked gazes of her classmates calmly, without a change in her expression as everyone stared at her.
“Why do I feel like Zhao Youyou has become prettier?”
“Whoa, is that Zhao Youyou? She took two days off, why does she look different from usual?”
“Did she not wear makeup today?”
The suddenly refined appearance and temperament change of Zhao Youyou sparked heated discussions in the class.
Lu Zhe, seated at the back row, set down his backpack and took his seat, paying no attention to the commotion caused by Zhao Youyou.
As he went out, he realized that his left leg had started to weaken, making him arrive at school a few minutes later than usual.
Lu Zhe’s eyes dimmed and his eyelids drooped.
Beside him, Li Dongliang moved his desk, which originally had a clear boundary from Lu Zhe’s, closer. He smiled mischievously and said, “Lu Zhe, did Zhao Youyou get plastic surgery over the weekend? She’s suddenly so much prettier.”
Lu Zhe, being the top student of the grade and possessing outstanding appearance, was very popular in school.
However, Zhao Youyou had revealed on the school forum that Lu Zhe was adopted by her parents. Though he was her brother in name, he essentially was as a servant of her family. Lu Zhe’s reputation took a significant hit.
Boys were relieved to have one less strong competitor, while many girls had their hearts shattered.
What shocked everyone the most was that at the beginning of this semester, Zhao Youyou exposed one of Lu Zhe’s medical reports, revealing to the entire school that he had a terminal illness.
Already known for his cold and aloof demeanor, coupled with being an orphan, was servant in Zhao Youyou’s household, and now having a terminal illness, Lu Zhe had became a completely shunned presence in his class.
Many people sympathized with him, but there were also numerous jeers and even malicious slander. Some even posted on the forum, questioning why Lu Zhe didn’t drop out given his limited time left.
Lu Zhe raised his eyes, giving Li Dongliang a cold look.
“Forget it, just pretend I never ask.”
Meeting Lu Zhe’s gaze, Li Dongliang felt a little frightened.
There was a time when Lu Zhe was cornered by five guys in an alley, intending to bully him. Despite usually being silent, Lu Zhe fiercely resisted against all five of them, fighting as if he had nothing to lose, forcing those outsiders to flee from the alley in a panic.
So, confronting Lu Zhe head-on was something Li Dongliang was neither willing nor dared to do. After all, he wasn’t eager to shorten his long life.
Lu Zhe paid no attention to Li Dongliang. He unzipped his backpack, intending to take out his textbook, but fingertips unintentionally brushed against something soft and furry.
He lowered his eyes.
Inside his backpack, the snowball-like little rabbit, with ruby-red eyes, stared at him blankly.
Lu Zhe remained silent.
When did it crawl into his backpack?
The dim interior of the bag suddenly brightened, and Su Ci looked up to see Lu Zhe’s cold handsome face.
She didn’t hide, but deliberately softened her gaze, looking at him with full reliance.
Lu Zhe’s temperament was so cold that even a docile, non-aggressive cute little creature like her could hardly get close to him, let alone get a kiss from him.
She sneaked into his backpack this morning just to follow Lu Zhe, hoping for more chances to interact with him. She certainly didn’t want to stay in the cardboard box just waiting for her death.
Facing Lu Zhe’s scrutinizing gaze, she nuzzled his stretched out hand with her rabbit head, looking irresistibly cute and well-behaved.
This was Lu Zhe’s first time having a pet. He wasn’t sure if other rabbits behaved this way—a bit mischievous, escaping from the box several times, but also quite obedient, gazing pitifully at him with dewy eyes and softly nuzzling his palm.
Feeling the warmth in his palm, Lu Zhe gently stroked the rabbit a few times.
He didn’t zip the backpack entirely, leaving a small opening, then stuffed the backpack into the drawer.
Zhao Youyou’s transformation left the class astonished, and she remained the center of attention throughout several lessons.
Especially the boys. Many were previously repelled by her heavy makeup and arrogant behavior. Now, seeing her transformed into a fresh-faced delicate beauty in her blue and white school uniform, they blushed and couldn’t help but tease.
They suddenly realized that the current Zhao Youyou was no less beautiful than the school beauty from the next class.
Su Ci, hiding in the backpack, could hear the students’ discussions about Zhao Youyou. The conversations were filled with surprise and admiration for how beautiful Zhao Youyou had become.
Su Ci knew that the female lead’s halo would be greatly enhanced after her regression.
But what baffled Su Ci was that before her rebirth, Zhao Youyou was obviously an academic underachiever, yet after her regression, she suddenly got into the top ten of her class then steadily climbed to the top ten of her grade. The reborn Zhao Youyou seemed to have switched brains, transitioning from a poor student to a top performer.
Su Ci enviously poked her little head out of the backpack in the drawer and raised her head to look at Lu Zhe. All she wanted now was to quickly return to her human form.
There was a physical education class in the morning.
As the class time approached, students started leaving the classroom one after another, heading to the gym.
Li Dongliang, who had been napping on his desk, immediately became energetic, picked up a basketball from the corner, spinning it while heading out.
“Youyou, let’s go, it’s almost time for class.” Ling Hui, Zhao Youyou’s deskmate, urged.
She noticed that Zhao Youyou had not only become prettier, her personality seemed to have changed as well. She wasn’t as sharp-tongued or aggressive and difficult to get along with as usual. Zhao Youyou would also smile at her gently, and Ling Hui liked this transformation.
Zhao Youyou glanced towards Lu Zhe, seated at the back. She remembered that due to Lu Zhe’s health condition, the teacher had excused him from physical education. After all, if something happened, the school would be held responsible. Therefore, while the whole class attended PE, Lu Zhe would stay alone insifr the classroom.
Zhao Youyou looked away and said, “Okay, let’s go.”
The classroom was extremely silent with only Lu Zhe remaining.
A snow-white fluff ball quietly wriggled out of his backpack, jumping straight onto Lu Zhe, landing on his lap.
The pen in Lu Zhe’s hand did not stop, but he stretched out his other hand to effortlessly grasp the rabbit laying on his lap.
He placed the rabbit on the table and spoke in a pleasant tone, “Don’t move.”
Su Ci lay still on her stomach, looking at Lu Zhe carefully. She saw that the young man in front of her had sharp edges, hard lines, and deep eyebrows. He was calculating something seriously.
It was undeniable that even though Lu Zhe was just a supporting male character, he was an exceptionally handsome one.
When Lu Zhe set down his pen, he saw the small white rabbit lying quietly on his textbook, being almost too well-behaved.
He lowered his head.
Looking up at the handsome face getting closer, Su Ci’s eyes sparkled, longing for him to kiss her for being such an adorable little creature.
Lu Zhe however, reached out and rubbed the rabbit’s head, picking up the cup behind Su Ci before standing up and leave.
Watching Lu Zhe’s departing figure, Su Ci lay down with a dejected look, another attempt to get a kiss had failed.
At that moment, a tall and slender boy walked in. He seemed slightly surprised when he saw the empty classroom. Then, he looked at Lu Zhe’s seat, his eyes shifting subtly.
The boy Jia Mingyang strode to Lu Zhe’s desk.
Su Ci didn’t expect someone would suddenly appear. She laid motionless above the table. Obviously, the other party didn’t care enough to notice the little rabbit on Lu Zhe’s desk.
Jia Mingyang quickly took out Lu Zhe’s backpack from the drawer, took off the watch he was wearing, and hid it inside the bag.
Su Ci’s eyes widened as she watched the boy’s crude actions. Her gaze shifted to the boy’s wrist, spotting the life value on the inner side. There were five yellow squares on the horizontal bar.
Su Ci remembered what Fu Gui had told her: a red box signifies one year, a yellow box represents ten years, and a green box also denotes ten years but implies a lifespan exceeding a hundred years.
Even without seeing the number next to it, Su Ci could deduce that the boy had at least fifty years to live.
This boy has a flawed character, but his lifespan is quite long.
Seeing the other person hastily stuff the backpack back into the drawer and leave in a hurry, Su Ci narrowed her red eyes.
¹: it’s wu (?) used usually for wuwuwu crying. I don’t know if I should just put it as ‘wuu’ or ‘sob’ tbh.
ogfl literally made ml’s life in school hell, exposing those in school forum is just such a dog move.
