Chapter 18 part 1
The dressing room was incredibly tiny, and now with both of them inside, it felt even narrower.
Hearing Lu Zhe’s words, Su Ci glared at him fiercely. What time was it now? Could she afford not to be in a hurry? Her rabbit ears had suddenly popped out, and just now, the female store employee had knocked on the door many times before, almost pushing it open.
At such a critical time, Lu Zhe was still so reserved?
Is he even a man!
She was both anxious and angry. She didn’t care what Lu Zhe said and hurriedly approached him. Her hands clung to his shoulders, and she tiptoed to step on his foot.
She leaned in her rosy lips and planted a direct kiss.
The girl was very desperate.
Her soft lips stained with gentle fragrance met his, and she kissed him several times randomly. Her slender waist kept wriggling in his hands.
Lu Zhe’s dark eyes deepen.
He tried to turn his head, but the girl kept pestering him.
The breath between their noses felt a bit warm. The girl’s two pink rabbit ears swayed in front of his eyes. His pupils darkened, and Lu Zhe finally reached out his hand.
The tips of her ears were soft, and he gently pinched them. In the next moment, Su Ci’s body, which had been clinging to him, softened, and she leaned weakly against Lu Zhe. Her pale arms weakly supported his shoulder, and she angrily bit Lu Zhe’s chin. “Bastard, don’t pinch my ears!”
Wu!
Lu Zhe actually pinched her ears again! Rabbit ears had many delicate blood vessels and were sensitive. When she was a rabbit, Lu Zhe loved playing with her rabbit ears. Back then, when he held her, she didn’t mind feeling weak all over. But now, as a human, he was still pinching her rabbit ears …
Su Ci felt her whole body go weak, and she could barely stand.
He groaned in pain as his chin was bitten, his voice sounding somewhat deep as he said, “Stop fooling around.”
“Who’s fooling around.” Su Ci glared at him fiercely. Who had started it? “Lu Zhe, hold me tight; I’m about to fall.”
She was feeling extremely weak now.
The girl’s body was soft and delicate, carrying a fragrance of youth. She was leaning against him as if boneless, and her rabbit ears brushed against his chin, which felt itchy.
Lu Zhe’s eyes flickered with surprise. He hadn’t expected Su Ci’s rabbit ears to be so sensitive.
The large hand that had been on her waist now embraced Su Ci. Lu Zhe spoke softly, “I’m sorry.” He hadn’t realized that gently pinching her ears would trigger such a strong reaction.
Su Ci snorted in annoyance. She had discovered Lu Zhe’s little quirk: he loved playing with her rabbit ears. She ignored him and instead touched her own head. She had already kissed Lu Zhe multiple times; why hadn’t her rabbit ears disappeared?
Su Ci frowned, calling out to Fu Gui, “Why did I suddenly grow rabbit ears?”
Fu Gui: “When the owner is sick and lacks the vitality to maintain their human form, the rabbit ears will appear.”
Su Ci realized that she was indeed coming down with a cold and might even have a slight fever. “I kissed Lu Zhe just now. Why haven’t my rabbit ears gone away?”
Fu Gui: “When the owner gets better, the rabbit ears will disappear.”
Upon hearing Fu Gui’s words, Su Ci was dumbfounded.
So, if she didn’t recover from her cold, she would have to keep these rabbit ears all the time?
Fu Gui: “Even with rabbit ears, in Fu Gui’s eyes, master still the most beautiful person in the world.”
Fu Gui didn’t miss the chance to give compliments, hoping to get more affection from its master and not have all the golden marshmallow given to Lu Zhe.
Su Ci felt disappointed. She thought that by kissing Lu Zhe, the rabbit ears would disappear, so she had immediately called him for help. But now Fu Gui told her it was due to her illness.
She raised her gaze, her dark, watery eyes were captivating. She leaned softly against Lu Zhe’s chest and told him, “Lu Zhe, I’m sick.”
“Hmm? Do you have a fever?” He hugged her, thinking that her body felt so hot because his own body temperature was low, but she was actually sick?
Su Ci nodded and sighed, “My rabbit ears won’t disappear until I get better.” She felt annoyed. “How can I go back in this state?”
There was a small chair inside the fitting room for customers to place their clothes.
Lu Zhe had the weary Su Ci sit down in the chair and said, “Just sit here for now.”
“What are you going to do?” Su Ci looked at him in confusion.
“I’ll be right back,” Lu Zhe said as he partially opened the fitting room door. After stepping outside, he quickly closed the door behind him.
The female employee was busy attending to other customers and noticed the fitting room door was open. A handsome young man in a school uniform came out. She didn’t have a chance to ask what was going on before she saw him pick up a white fisherman’s hat from the accessories section.
“Please help me with the payment,” Lu Zhe walked to the cash register.
After paying, he returned to the fitting room with the hat.
The female employee was quite curious, but the woman inside the fitting room was acting mysteriously, and she had no idea what happened.
Su Ci looked at Lu Zhe as he came back with a hat in his hand.
“You should put it on,” Lu Zhe handed the hat to Su Ci.
Su Ci gazed at him and boldly said, “Help me put it on.”
Sitting on the small chair, the girl with her pink rabbit ears perched atop her head and her black watery eyes gazing directly at him looked just like a rabbit spirit.
Lu Zhe didn’t make a sound. He approached her and tried to put the creamy-white hat on Su Ci’s head.
“Your ears…” The girl’s two rabbit ears stood up and the hat couldn’t fit over them. Lu Zhe was concerned that forcing the hat on might hurt her.
Su Ci also realized the issue and took a deep breath, attempting to control her rabbit ears.
In the next moment, Lu Zhe saw Su Ci’s previously upright rabbit ears droop down on both sides, looking soft and relaxed.
“How does it look?” Su Ci was a bit proud, as she had learned to control them.
The hand holding the hat gradually tightened. No matter how coldhearted Lu Zhe was or straightforward he might be, Su Ci’s cute appearance in front of him made his heart tremble.
He lowered his gaze, not making eye contact with Su Ci, and quickly put the hat on her.
Su Ci turned around and looked in the full-length mirror behind her. The fisherman’s hat was a bit big, so she pressed down the brim to securely conceal her two rabbit ears, only revealing the lower half of her face.
Su Ci was finally happy with the result.
She reached out and tugged on Lu Zhe’s clothes, saying, “Alright, we can leave now.”
Her head was pounding, and she wanted to go back and take her medicine to get better quickly. Besides, she had spent quite a while in the fitting room, and the store staff here must have been curious by now.
Lu Zhe asked, “Can you stand?”
Su Ci shook her head, “You need to support me.” If they weren’t in a crowded mall, she would have asked Lu Zhe to carry her on his back without hesitation.
“En.”
Lu Zhe helped her up, and Su Ci leaned against his chest as they headed out.
Outside, the female store clerk had just finished attending to other customers and finally saw the fitting room door open.
She saw a handsome young man half-holding a girl as they walked out. The girl was wearing a hat, and only her snowy nose and delicate chin were visible.
The female store clerk quickly approached them and asked, “Is there anything you need assistance with?” She couldn’t help but wonder if this female customer was unwell or something.
“I had a heatstroke earlier and borrowed your fitting room to rest. I’m really sorry for any inconvenience,” Su Ci effortlessly spun a lie without hesitation.
The female store clerk quickly replied, “It’s okay.” Even with only the lower half of the girl’s face visible, she was incredibly beautiful, and it was evident that she was genuinely unwell, given that she couldn’t even walk without assistance.
After leaving the clothing store, Su Ci and Lu Zhe walked to the first floor of the mall. There was a children’s store across from the elevator playing a nursery rhyme:
Little white bunny, so bright and white,
With two ears standing upright,
Loves radishes and vegetables,
Hopping and jumping very adorably,
Little bunny with a pair of long ears and a short tail,
Really, really, really steange …..
Suddenly hearing the familiar nursery rhyme, even if Su Ci had the thickest skin, she couldn’t help but blush.
She looked up at Lu Zhe, only to find that he had lowered his head. When their eyes met, she could see the amusement in his eyes.
Su Ci turned her head away in frustration, her cheeks burning with embarrassment.
Well, she was laughed at.
The little white bunny nursery rhyme continued to play, and as Lu Zhe held the girl with two rabbit ears in his arms, a faint dimple appeared on his left cheek as he raised the corners of his lips.
…
About to leave the mall, Su Ci still remembered the young boy who had bumped into her earlier. There were probably about ten minutes left before his death.
The mall was vast, with elevators on each floor. Su Ci had no idea where to find him, and considering the middle-aged woman’s personality, even if she intervened, the woman might blame her for meddling.
Su Ci pressed her lips together.
“Wait a moment,” she stopped Lu Zhe. “I’ll make a phone call.”
Then, Lu Zhe saw Su Ci take out her phone and dial the emergency number. He heard her reporting that there had been an accident in the mall, and someone was seriously injured.
Su Ci quickly hung up the phone. She wasn’t a savior. Even if she wanted golden marshmallows to save Lu Zhe, it didn’t mean that she would save everyone. She knew her own abilities well, and she was just a delicate woman with an exceptional beauty.
Fu Gui told her that the young boy had fallen from an escalator and died due to excessive bleeding. The accident hadn’t happened yet, and she calculated the timing, so she called the ambulance in advance. By the time the boy had his accident, the ambulance should have arrived.
Whether the medical personnel could save the boy was in the hands of fate. This was all she could do.
“Lu Zhe, don’t look at me like that. Anyway, I can’t tell you anything.”
She knew that making such a call in front of Lu Zhe would surprise and confuse him. However, in the future, she would be involved in many rescue missions, and it would be challenging to keep it a secret from Lu Zhe. Since that was the case, she didn’t need to make the effort to hide it.
Lu Zhe: “Hmm.”
Su Ci blinked. “Aren’t you going to ask more questions?”
“Will you tell me?” Lu Zhe looked at her.
“No, I won’t!”
