Became the Terminally Ill Supporting Male Lead’s Rabbit Spirit - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Lu Zhe closed his eyes.
He rarely had contact with girls, so he wasn’t sure if all girls were like Su Ci, not only delicate but also full of mischief.
“Mmm,” Lu Zhe softly responded.
Su Ci’s hand still covered Lu Zhe’s eyes, and like a snail, she continued to move her foot, trying to avoid this awkward situation. She had just moved a small step when the next moment, the boy’s large hand grabbed her wrist.
His palm was cold, and his fingers rough. She was a bit stunned and wanted to tell Lu Zhe to stop, but his big hand moved away from covering her eyes.
Lu Zhe’s pitch-black eyes were deep and bottomless. He glanced at her, then lowered his head and repeated the same words in her ear, “Don’t move.” The soft sensation continuously emanated from her chest, making him feel a little numb in his hands and feet, but not completely devoid of sensation in his entire body.
Su Ci was about to say something when she heard the footsteps of a female employee coming out from inside.
The female employee pushed open the door to the administrative office in front of the lockers, followed by the sound of a chair being pulled.
The surroundings quieted down again, and Su Ci didn’t hear any commotion.
After mentally calculating the time, Su Ci whispered, “Quick, let’s get out of here.”
She squeezed out from in front of Lu Zhe.
The office door wasn’t closed properly. When Su Ci emerged from behind the lockers, she saw the female employee holding a knife, its tip pointed at her own wrist.
Su Ci stood at the door, not advancing any further.
Lu Zhe, who had followed her, also noticed what the female employee was trying to do.
The female employee looked at them in astonishment, not expecting them to return. “You … why did you come back …”
“Oh, I forgot something and came back to get it,” Su Ci’s voice was pleasant, but her tone was indifferent. “Are you trying to harm yourself?”
The female employee hesitated, clearly taken aback by Su Ci’s straightforward question.
She held onto the knife, “Don’t come any closer.”
Su Ci nodded. “I won’t come closer.”
She looked at the female employee and asked, “Why do you want to die? Watching your own blood flow out of your body, don’t you find it torturous?”
The female employee’s gentle face carried a deep sadness. “You’re still young. You don’t understand that some things can be more terrifying and unbearable than death.”
Su Ci’s fair face remained devoid of any smiles, her expression cold. “Indeed, I don’t understand. I don’t understand what could be more terrifying than death.”
The hand holding the knife trembled in the female employee’s grasp, and her eyes were filled with sorrow.
“I can’t relate to your feelings. I know that life is precious, and you only have one life,” Su Ci stared at her, her dark eyes filled with anger. “I despise people who seek death at all cost. In this world, many people wish to live, but it’s a luxury. Yet you, with many years of life ahead, don’t know how to cherish it and keep thinking about ending it, which is utter foolishness.”
Sometimes, it’s truly ironic.
Those who want to live have short lives, while those with long lives often fail to appreciate them.
Before she transmigrated, Su Ci had a severe heart condition, and she knew she wouldn’t live long.
However, she never considered giving up, even when her family went bankrupt, and her parents passed away, every additional day of life was a blessing for her.
But then, during a film shoot, her heart condition flared up, and she died. When she opened her eyes, she had turned into a rabbit.
Her current body was healthy, so even though she couldn’t see her own life points and her life was still linked with the short-lived Lu Zhe, she remained grateful and cherished life. Even Lu Zhe, who knew he had a terminal illness, experienced numbness in his limbs, and his body was slowly becoming stiff, still diligently lived each day. He went to school, worked, took medication on time, and exercised.
Both of them knew that each day they got through meant one less day remaining.
“Although death might bring an end to it all, do you really think it’s worth it? Life is precious, it’s a lesson even elementary school students understand,” Su Ci coldly glanced at the woman and then turned to leave.
She wasn’t a savior, and if the person truly wanted to die, she had no obligation to intervene.
“Let’s go,” Su Ci said to Lu Zhe.
Lu Zhe lowered his gaze and look into her deep eyes, “Mm.”
“Wait,” the female employee called out to Su Ci.
She had been holding her emotions in for too long.
“I … I’ve been photographed inappropriately.”
After starting, it wasn’t difficult to continue. “The person has been blackmailing me with those photos. I have to see his disgusting face every day, and it makes me want to puke. I don’t want to die, but I can’t do anything about the person.” The knife in the woman’s hand moved away, and she looked like she had lost all her strength.
She didn’t genuinely want to die, she just had no choice.
When she first entered the workplace, she was young and naive, too innocent to see her boss’s sinister intentions. She got deceived into taking inappropriate photos, and had been blackmailed ever since.
“So, you chose to cut your wrists here in the office to scare that man?” Su Ci turned around, “This approach is foolish. Who knows, if you die, he might just forget about you and continue with his life.”
“I know, but it’s the only way I can find some relief,” the female employee expressed her pain.
“Do you know where that man keeps your photos?” Su Ci asked.
The woman nodded, “They are on his computer, but I can’t touch his computer.”
Su Ci turned her head towards the young man next to her and asked, “Lu Zhe, can you do it?”
Lu Zhe walked over to a computer and said, “A man can’t say no.”
The woman realized something, bit her lip, and dropped the knife. “I know the IP address of his computer.”
“Okay,” Lu Zhe said as he opened the computer. His knuckles distinct and his slender fingers started dancing on the keyboard.
Su Ci lowered her head to examine the woman’s wrist. The life value on it had changed, now showing five yellow boxes, which meant she had fifty more years of life ahead.
Smirking, Su Ci turned her head to observe Lu Zhe diligently working on the computer.
Indeed, the serious Lu Zhe was quite handsome. He met her aesthetic standards in every way. If Lu Zhe could cooperate properly and let her kiss him, he would be even more handsome.
Before long, Lu Zhe stopped his work and asked the female employee, “This should be the folder; take a look.” He made space for her, not looking at the photos in the computer.
The woman’s hand holding the mouse trembled as she opened the folder. Tears instantly filled her delicate face.
“These are the ones,” she controlled her shaking hand as best as she could, and she clicked on “Delete.”
The female employee noticed an encrypted folder next to it. Her heart started pounding rapidly. “Can you help me unlock this encrypted folder, please?” She knew that the man had embezzled a considerable amount of money from the company, and the evidence was on his computer.
“Sure,” Lu Zhe easily unlocked the folder, which had several layers of encryption.
“Thank you.” The woman’s heart felt like it was about to jump out of her throat as she copied all the evidence from the folder.
Su Ci watched the woman’s expression and had a good idea of what she intended to do. She supported her actions as she believed it was a good thing to get rid of such a scumbag.
Clutching the evidence tightly, the woman looked at Su Ci and Lu Zhe with gratitude. “Thank you both. If it weren’t for you, I would have …”
Her voice choked a little, and she bowed deeply to Su Ci and Lu Zhe. “Thank you for helping me out of the abyss.”
She had once fantasized about someone reaching out to help her, but all she received was despair. She didn’t expect that when she was on the brink of giving up, someone would lend a hand.
“Thank you!”
The woman’s gentle face was now filled with gratitude.
“I had some of your snacks earlier, so I suppose that counts as your thanks,” Su Ci licked her lips. “They were quite delicious.”
The woman smiled, her eyes filled with vitality, and the heavy sorrow between her brows disappeared. Her smile was beautiful. “I’m Li Ran. May I know your name?”
Su Ci’s red lips curved into a smile. “Su Ci.”
Li Ran silently repeated the name in her mind.
When they left the building, the sunlight wasn’t as scorching as before.
Su Ci opened her umbrella; she was a girl who cared about her looks and didn’t want to get tanned.
“Lu Zhe, can you hold the umbrella for me? My hands suddenly feel sore,” Su Ci handed the umbrella to Lu Zhe and looked at him with a bright smile.
Lu Zhe had already figured it out. The pitiful and innocent expression Su Ci displayed in the past was just an act. Now, this sly and mischievous little rascal, who often had wicked ideas in her mind, was her true self.
He took the umbrella from her hand.
Su Ci immediately walked beneath the umbrella, not willing to be exposed to the sun.
“Lu Zhe, I just saved someone again,” Su Ci spoke up.
“Mmm.” She had indeed saved a life.
Su Ci gave Lu Zhe a sidelong glance as she talk about herself, “Aren’t you going to praise me?”
Lu Zhe tilted the umbrella toward her side without responding to her question. Instead, he asked, “How did you know she was going to cut her wrists?” Su Ci pulled him behind the storage cabinet, as if she had known Li Ran’s actions in advance.
In the sunlight, Su Ci’s fair complexion became even more radiant. She opened her eyes wide and playfully replied, “Li Ran’s expression told me something was wrong. I can’t believe how clever I am; I guessed it right.”
She wished she could tell him the truth, but the system didn’t allow it.
Lu Zhe didn’t express whether he believed her or not.
He held the umbrella, and the sunlight fell on his shoulders.
Su Ci reached out to tug at his clothes, saying, “Lu Zhe, come closer…”
Before she could finish her sentence, the next moment, Lu Zhe stumbled forward.
“Lu Zhe!”
Su Ci quickly helped him. This wasn’t the first time he had fallen, he had stumbled during their visit to the night market.
Lu Zhe didn’t collapse completely; he reacted in time, but his hand grazed the ground.
Su Ci furrowed her brow.
She had kissed Lu Zhe earlier, hadn’t she? Why was he struggling to walk now?
Fu Gui: ?Kissing Lu Zhe only increases his lifespan but doesn’t change his condition.?
Lu Zhe can continue to extend his life without dying, but his ALS remains, and in its advanced stages, he will become completely stiff and immobile.
Su Ci: “Why didn’t you tell me this earlier?”
Fu Gui’s voice was soft, ?You didn’t ask.?
Lu Zhe had regained his balance, stood up straight, continued holding the umbrella, and walked slowly. His expressionless face appeared untroubled, as if he hadn’t nearly fallen moments ago.
Su Ci: “Is there any way to treat Lu Zhe’s ALS?”
Fu Gui’s childish voice sounded very reluctant: ?He can recover if he eats enough golden marshmallow.?
Su Ci knew that for each person she saved, Fu Gui would receive a piece of golden marshmallow, and could that also work for Lu Zhe?
Su Ci squinted her eyes, “I saved Li Ran a moment ago. You received a piece of golden marshmallow, didn’t you?”
Fu Gui joyfully shared: ?Fu Gui got it, thank you, master.?
Su Ci: “Hand it over, Lu Zhe needs it.”
Fu Gui felt extremely wronged.
Su Ci didn’t care about its feelings at all. To think it had kept such an important piece of information from her, she closed Fu Gui off.
Now that she knew the usefulness of the golden marshmallow, Su Ci deeply felt like she was just a tool for Lu Zhe and had received the confirmation!
She turned her head and looked at the almost invisible Lu Zhe due to his silence, “Lu Zhe, how lucky of you to meet a magnificent treasure like me.”
