Beast, Blue Blood - Chapter 58
Chapter 58
A faint heat rose from the muzzle of the gun. Sweat trickled down Constantina’s temple. Before long, Hisha, who had appeared behind her, took her hand and directed the gun’s muzzle towards the ceiling. A bullet mark was visible on the ceiling.
Seeing this, Eugene calmly said.
“Let me introduce you. This is my husband.”
Constantina collapsed and burst into tears. Police officers came in through the open door. While they took Constantina away, Eugene looked back at Heinrich. Heinrich was maintaining a face with minimal emotion, but it seemed he didn’t understand why Eugene was going to such lengths to protect him.
As if sensing this thought, Eugene spoke.
“You know, I don’t leave my father.”
Suddenly, Heinrich touched his forehead.
“Damn….”
His muttering voice was tinged with an unmistakable moisture. At that moment, Eugene staggered, and Hisha quickly caught her.
“Are you okay?”
Eugene leaned weakly against him and murmured.
“I feel dizzy…”
“It’s only natural since you moved right after getting up.”
Then Hisha lifted Eugene in his arms as if she were a princess.
“You’ve become quite heavy, Eugene.”
Since Luax is heavier than a human, it meant not only that Eugene had become Luax but also that she now had the weight of another life to bear. However heavy it might get, Hisha would now share that burden with her.
Eugene closed her eyes and murmured.
“You shouldn’t say such things to a woman.”

“Congratulations on everyone being safe and sound.”
As Ivan, who could be considered the eldest here, raised his champagne glass and spoke, everyone clinked their champagne glasses together.
Eugene, sitting on the bed, gave a subtle smile.
“You do know this is a hospital room, right?”
Even if it is a VIP room used alone. Moreover, Eugene was still wearing a patient’s gown. However, Hisha didn’t mind and spoke.
“The doctor said it’s fine as long as other patients don’t see.”
“But what about the cake?”
Asked Yeon-ha, who had come straight from work in her military uniform. Hisha answered.
“I found a bakery next to the hospital that looked good, so I ordered from there. It will be here soon.”
Yeon-ha sighed.
“Still, isn’t it a bit early to be a dad at this age? Your father took two thousand years…”
Ivan narrowed his eyes and looked at Yeon-ha. As if wondering if Yeon-ha was going to say that too. Then Yeon-ha, as if recalling something, said with a face of disbelief.
“Wait a minute. Does that mean I’m a grandmother now?”
Ivan kissed his wife’s head.
“You’re going to be a lovely grandmother.”
Leaving them to that, Ha-yeon shrugged and said to Hisha.
“But Hisha, having an older and smart wife will soon be tiring.”
Hisha looked at Ha-yeon as if asking what she was talking about.
“Eugene is so kind. She never refuses anything you ask for in bed…”
“Hisha!”
As Hisha was about to brag, Eugene was horrified and pushed him away.
“Why can’t he tell the difference between what to say and what not to say?”
Everyone looked at Yeon-ha, who was bewildered.
“Huh? Why?”
They all shook their heads and muttered.
“It runs in the blood.”
Since the cake hadn’t arrived yet, they each drank champagne and continued their conversations. Then Yeon-ha, as if recalling something, asked Hisha.
“By the way, Hisha, have you apologized to Uncle Do-young? After all that commotion and running away.”
“I have. But he asked if I was thinking of enlisting.”
“Tell him not. What is he even asking?”
Yeon-ha seemed so disgusted that Hisha, confused, asked.
“My mother is in the military, so you’re not recommending it?”
“If you had the choice, wouldn’t you avoid the military?”
With such a decisive and unambiguous tone, Hisha chuckled. While they were having that conversation, Eugene turned to Selena and asked.
“Is the scout offer still valid?”
Selena smiled.
“We always need talented individuals. I’m actually on the verge of overworking myself.”
At that moment, Hisha approached and placed his hand on Eugene’s shoulder.
“It’s a happy ending.”
Suddenly, Selena looked at Hisha and asked.
“And what about you, young master?”
“What about me?”
Hisha seemed to realize the meaning of the question.
“Oh, I’m going to take care of our Eugene.”
As he said this, he looked at Eugene with a honeyed tone and then with an affectionate gaze. Eugene looked at Hisha and spoke.
“But you’re not planning to live on a part-time job.”
“That’s true. But first, we should enjoy our honeymoon…”
Eugene pushed Hisha away.
“You should at least go to college first.”
Hisha sighed and muttered.
“Got it.”
At that moment, Ha-yeon, who had gone to the entrance, said.
“Hisha, the cake is here.”
“Just a moment.”
Hisha said and went towards the door. He greeted the bakery delivery person with a fist bump as if they had known each other since childhood. Ha-yeon didn’t hide her look of incredulity.
Seeing this, Selena turned to Eugene and asked.
“What did Leah say about it?”
Eugene slightly shook her head.
“Leah didn’t know much about the Lancenum who helped her mother either. She just said he seemed like a wizard. He would bring whatever she wanted just by saying it and accomplish any task like magic.”
Selena crossed his arms and fell into thought. Eugene stared at him intently, with eyes that seemed to pierce through everything, and asked.
“Do you have any guesses?”
“No.”
Selena smiled slightly and uncrossed his arms. Since they were on the same side now, Eugene would be a reliable ally, but for now, it was time to stabilize, so they could discuss it gradually.
“Eugene, we need to cut the cake.”
At that moment, Hisha called out. Eugene glanced at Hisha, then turned to Selena.
“Let’s talk later.”
Selena’s eyes grew cold as he watched. Yes, there would be time to discuss it gradually. The intense grudge that had persisted for six hundred years.
As Eugene entered the area prepared by Hisha, the cake on the table was inscribed with:
<Happy New Birthday, Eugene>
Her birthday was in September. It was now April. September always meant a birthday party. They would gather all the children from school, her sports club, and the church and host the grandest party possible in the mansion’s garden. The children envied her young and beautiful mother, her impressive and wealthy father, and the mansion that seemed fit for a prince and princess.
She could never have imagined celebrating her birthday in a hospital room, wearing a patient’s gown, with a cake bought from any bakery. Even though it wasn’t her real birthday.
“Here, put this on too.”
Hisha placed a ridiculously cheap and silly paper crown on her head, something she had never worn even as a child. Although Selena shook his head disapprovingly, Hisha didn’t care.
“Congratulations on being reborn, Eugene.”
Hisha said and kissed Eugene. Ha-yeon made a face of distaste, but Eugene didn’t mind at all. It was the best birthday party of her life.

Black cars stopped one by one in front of the Fuger-Dulloch family cemetery where the funeral was being held. Heinrich Fuger-Dulloch had passed away at the age of 63. The cause of death was terminal pancreatic cancer, worsened by a chronic illness, and he had died two days ago. He had refused to be frozen.
“I refuse to live clinging to the brink of death like a defeated soldier.”
So he said.
At that moment, another black car arrived and Hisha, dressed in a black suit, got out. Hisha then escorted Eugene, who followed him. Eugene was holding a girl in a black dress who seemed to be not much older than a toddler. The girl wore a cute bonnet, black but with lighter brown hair underneath, and her appearance was a mix of Hisha and Eugene, with large, gentle yet sharp features. Her eyes were blue, like her grandfather’s, not red.
Since Ivan also had blue eyes when he was human, it wasn’t clear whether this trait came from the paternal or maternal side. What mattered was that the child appeared closer to a human.
Hisha reached out and said.
“I’ll hold Martha.”
Eugene handed their daughter, Martha, to Hisha. The two of them entered the walled cemetery together. The guests had mostly arrived by then.
During the funeral, Martha, despite not knowing that what she was witnessing was her grandfather’s funeral, stared at the gravestone as if she understood something.
Heinrich looked at the child Eugene had handed to him as if seeing a strange object for the first time. It seemed he had trouble accepting that this was his granddaughter. Hisha, standing beside him, was visibly anxious as if Heinrich might throw the child away at any moment.
Heinrich awkwardly held Martha and spoke.
“Since you have my immortality, you should live a long life.”
“What are you saying to a child?”
Hisha exclaimed in shock and, unable to tolerate it, eventually took Martha back. Heinrich stared at Hisha.
“It’s a blessing.”
Hisha gave a dry laugh.
“How is that a blessing? I’m worried if the child will understand.”
Pierlu and Mirsi were also present at the funeral. During the proceedings, they stood a step away. At one point, Eugene suddenly said to them.
“I forgive you.”
Seeing Pierlu’s puzzled expression as he looked at Eugene’s back, Eugene continued without turning around.
“Because you made my mother happy.”
Tears welled up in Pierlu’s eyes, something he hadn’t expected Eugene to say.
“Director…”
But Eugene spoke with the same detached tone she would use with an employee.
“Don’t cry. I detest melodrama.”
“Yes, I’m sorry…”
Pierlu managed to swallow his tears, and Eugene said again.
“I never actually hated you. Watching you, my mother, and Mirsi all look happy made me wish I had been born from the relationship between you and my mother.”
She then looked at Heinrich’s gravestone.
“I’m sorry to my father, but I hope he understands.”
Eventually, Pierlu broke into tears. Eugene gave a smile mixed with discomfort.
“I told you I hate melodrama.”
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry…”
Apologizing repeatedly, Pierlu wiped his tears with his thumb and then wiped his face with his thick hand. Watching this, Hisha spoke to the daughter in his arms.
“It might seem a bit strange, but isn’t this kind of family okay?”
