Beast, Blue Blood - Chapter 31
Chapter 31
“It would be hard to work if you were pregnant now. You have to take over the family.”
Then Hisha said to the doctor, almost boasting.
“Eugene is going to inherit Fuger-Dulloch.”
Eugene was confused. She probably knew what inheriting Fuger-Dulloch meant, but such innocent behavior puzzled her.
“Oh, I see.”
Although the doctor seemed to know who Eugene was, she smiled kindly, not knowing the details.
“But I didn’t know our young master was dating someone. How long have you been seeing each other?”
Suddenly, Eugene looked at the doctor as if she had turned into a multi-legged jellyfish alien.
Dating… Who with whom?
But Hisha casually replied.
“Not long.”
This time, Eugene looked at Hisha as if he had grown another head. What was he talking about now… But before she could say anything, Hisha looked at her and said.
“If you’re done, let’s go have dinner. The food is ready. Doctor, please join us.”
“Sure.”
As the doctor cleaned up and stood, Hisha brushed Eugene’s hair and asked.
“Are you feeling dizzy?”
Eugene continued to stare at him without answering. Hisha then leaned in as if to kiss her. Eugene snapped out of it and pushed his shoulder away.
“What are you doing?”
“When I look at you like this…”
His voice was filled with warmth. She could feel the heat from his body under her palm. He was at an age full of energy.
Only then did she realize that Hisha’s high spirits might not just be because of Luax’s influence.
Eugene pushed him away and said.
“Stay back. Everyone is outside.”
Hisha looked puzzled.
“They’ve always been outside.”
Eugene was at a loss for words. That was true, but…
Only then did it hit her what she had done. However, unable to admit her mistake, Eugene glared at Hisha.
“But the people outside now are your family.”
Hisha looked as if he hadn’t considered this.
“Hisha?”
At that moment, they heard Yeon-ha calling from outside, and Hisha turned and answered.
“We’re coming.”
Then he looked back at Eugene and reached out his hand.
“Let’s go.”
Eugene stared at his outstretched hand for a moment, then took it and stood up. As they walked out to the living room, they found dinner set on a large table.
“I prepared various dishes, but I’m not sure if they’ll suit your taste.”
A housekeeper in her early 40s, with the English name Emily but who looked Korean, said with a smile.
Since Eugene was known to come from a wealthy family, she seemed a bit nervous, thinking Eugene was used to extravagant meals every day.
As Eugene was about to reply, Hisha spoke first.
“It’s fine. Eugene is surprisingly not picky. As long as she’s full and gets the nutrients, she doesn’t care about taste and just eats.”
“So she’s not that picky.”
Yeon-ha spoke, somewhat unexpectedly.
“She must be picky in other areas.”
Ha-yeon, sitting at the end of the table, sneered. However, Eugene, who had already started eating, ignored her and spoke to Emily.
“Thank you. It’s delicious.”

“Yes, please report back.”
Eugene spoke to Nasiri and hung up the phone. At that moment, she sensed someone behind her.
“I’ll leave the clothes for you to change into here.”
Emily, standing at the entrance, neatly placed the folded clothes on a cabinet next to the door.
“Thank you.”
Emily smiled a little and left the room.
Eugene looked around the room she was standing in. Although it was a guest room, it was quite large and well-maintained, as if someone frequently used it.
With Nasiri handling the aftermath, it was safer to stay here for today. A place where no one could touch her.
It was ironic that this place was Hisha’s house, the main house of the Ivanov clan. However, from a practical standpoint, attacking the Ivanov clan’s headquarters, which housed several MCTC special forces members, without preparing for a full-scale war, was unthinkable. Thus, this was one of the safest places.
“Do you like the room?”
Hisha appeared at the door and asked.
“It’s not my place to complain while I’m imposing.”
Eugene replied indifferently and went to the cabinet to pick up the clothes Emily had left. However, Hisha, standing beside her, placed his hand on the clothes, preventing her from taking them, and tilted his head.
“Eugene, later tonight…”
He was very close.
“Hisha.”
At that moment, Yeon-ha appeared at the door.
“Come see your mother.”
Hisha looked at Yeon-ha and then told Eugene, ‘Just a moment,’ before following his mother outside. Eugene watched them disappear, expressionless, then turned away.
At the end of the hallway, Yeon-ha spoke to her son as soon as she turned to face him.
“Hisha, I’m against it.”
Hisha was speechless. He had not entirely expected a negative reaction from Yeon-ha regarding Eugene, but he had secretly believed his mother would be different.
Yeon-ha smiled bitterly as if she had read her son’s thoughts.
“I was ready to support any friend you brought home, but this one… she’s different.”
“But if you get to know Eugene…”
Before Hisha could finish his sentence, Yeon-ha nodded as if she understood.
“She’s pretty. She’s capable and sophisticated. Her personality doesn’t seem as bad as one might think. No man would dislike such a woman. But I’m talking about something more fundamental.”
Then Yeon-ha sighed.
“I don’t understand why your father, who used to personally check the gas stove for safety, is now silent. But if your father also supports her, it wouldn’t be like this. And you know why we’re like this, don’t you?”
It was because Eugene was Heinrich’s daughter.
Heinrich, the head of the Brotherhood and one of the few survivors of the “Brotherhood Incident,” was never convicted of any charges related to the incident. This was not because he was innocent but rather because he was incredibly lucky and had a very competent legal team. Even if Heinrich had nothing to do with the Brotherhood Incident, his life alone made him a person difficult to accept on a human level.
Despite this, Hisha had to say it.
“Can’t you see Eugene separately from her father?”
It wasn’t as if Eugene had chosen to be born to such a father.
“Well, that’s…”
Yeon-ha hesitated. Then, reflecting on the irony of life that had entangled them with Fuger-Dulloch in such a way, she gave a bitter smile.
“It would be impossible unless Eugene gives up the name of Fuger-Dulloch.”
* * *
Hisha quietly left the room. The dim emergency lights were the only source of illumination in the dark hallway. Despite what his mother had said, he knew he had to plant the apple tree today.
“Hisha.”
A voice suddenly called from behind, making Hisha flinch. When he turned around, Ivan was standing in the dark hallway. Hisha gave an awkward smile.
“Weren’t you sleeping?”
“It’s quite late for a walk.”
“Well…”
As he hesitated, trying to come up with an excuse, Ivan unexpectedly held out his hand.
“Here.”
Without thinking, Hisha accepted the item and opened his hand to look.
“What is this…?”
It was a condom.
Hisha was startled and looked at his father. But Ivan’s face was expressionless.
“You need to practice safe sex.”
Hisha asked, bewildered.
“Aren’t you going to say anything?”
“What could I say to a grown son?”
“But the Fuger-Dulloch family…?”
Ivan replied indifferently as he walked past.
“I suppose it’s within your power to handle a woman like that.”
Watching his father’s back disappear down the hallway, Hisha shrugged, feeling that things had gone well, and put the condom in his pocket. He then walked in the opposite direction.
When he reached Eugene’s room, he knocked on the closed door. There was no response.
‘Is she asleep?’
He carefully opened the door and saw something large between the gaps.
“Eugene?”
Through the gap, he saw a cabinet that wasn’t supposed to be there. And in front of it, he saw the back of someone sitting on the floor.
“Go away.”
Eugene said without turning around. Hisha frowned.
“Let’s talk face to face.”
Eugene, resting her hands on her knees and her head on her temple, didn’t respond.
When she thought about the things she had said and done to someone who had just graduated high school, she felt like lying down in a coffin and shouting, ‘Cover me with dirt quickly!’ In hindsight, Leah, who had offhandedly said she thought he was a minor when she first saw Hisha, had been astute. Leah had an uncanny sixth sense when it came to handsome men.
Hisha asked, looking at Eugene’s back.
“Do you dislike me because I’m young?”
“Yes. I dislike it. I don’t like young people.”
Eugene replied immediately.
If only this were true, it would be a relief. It’s just that…
‘You can’t raise a person. Especially not a man.’
However, no sound came from beyond the door, and Eugene snapped out of her thoughts. Thinking it might be a trick, she listened carefully before cautiously getting up to check. The hallway was empty through the crack in the door.
Eugene closed the door and stood there for a moment, then went to the bed, lifted the blanket, and got in. She punched the soft pillow a few times to make it comfortable and buried her head in it. She squeezed her eyes shut.
‘He gives up quickly. It must be because he’s young.’
She tried hard to fall asleep.
Creak.
Suddenly, she heard something scratching. Eugene furrowed her brow and opened her eyes.
Creak.
The scratching sound grew louder. Eugene turned her head back. The window behind her was half-open.
A hand appeared on the window sill. The moonlit night made it look like a scene from a horror movie. She recognized the familiar bracelet, knowing who it was—even if there was only one person it could be—but she still felt chills.
Eugene unconsciously got out of bed. The gown she had forgotten to take off when she got into bed slid down to her knees.
A man with glowing red eyes hopped onto the windowsill. This was at least the fourth or fifth floor.
Because of the moonlight, his red eyes looked especially bright and ominous.
Eugene took a hesitant step back. She spun around, her gown billowing. But there, standing expressionless, was Hisha.
