Beast, Blue Blood - Chapter 103
Chapter 103
The door was quietly pushed open, but Si-woo was not on the bed. Only the traces of where he had been lying remained.
From the side, someone grabbed Ha-yeon and kissed her forcefully. Since Ha-yeon knew who it was, she did not resist. Instead, she embraced the person as if to topple him, deepening the kiss. The two of them embraced each other roughly as if something disastrous would happen if they couldn’t have each other immediately.
Si-woo grabbed Ha-yeon’s hips and lifted her. Ha-yeon wrapped her legs around Si-woo’s waist and entangled herself even more.
Si-woo laid Ha-yeon down on the bed where he had been lying and then lifted her T-shirt over her head. He then helped her undo her pants buckle and swiftly removed them, tossing them aside.
In an instant, the bed, which had become disheveled with crumpled sheets, held a woman in only purple lace underwear as if presented as a gift.
Si-woo slightly parted his lips and asked.
“What about the bodyguards?”
Ha-yeon, smiling languidly, wrapped her arms around Si-woo.
“I got rid of them.”
* * *
Even before opening his eyes, Si-woo was engulfed in a happy feeling. It was because he knew that when he opened his eyes, the woman he loved would be there…
But she wasn’t.
Si-woo, rising from bed, looked at the space beside him. There were signs that someone had been there, but Ha-yeon was nowhere to be seen.
Bang!
At that moment, there was a loud noise from outside followed by curses. Si-woo quickly got out of bed and went outside. The kitchen was in disarray, almost as if someone had been making bombs, and Ha-yeon was standing by the sink with both hands on it.
“Miss?”
Surprised by Si-woo’s call, Ha-yeon turned around with a frown. She was wearing a loose, colorless apron over a cropped T-shirt and short shorts.
“You’re awake?”
“Are you hurt?”
“I dropped it.”
Indeed, there was an ice pack lying on the floor, frozen solid.
Si-woo picked Ha-yeon up and placed her next to the sink, then put her foot under cold water. He brought a towel and carefully dried Ha-yeon’s foot while asking.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah. I’m fine.”
Si-woo looked around.
“So, what were you doing?”
“…Cooking?”
“I guess that’s why it’s in question form.”
“I thought it wouldn’t be too difficult seeing you do it, but I don’t know where things went wrong.”
Ha-yeon sat cross-legged and tilted her head as if truly curious. On the other hand, Si-woo knew the reason well. Ha-yeon often cooked haphazardly even with a recipe. Even if it said one cup, Ha-yeon might think, ‘It seems like it should be three cups,’ and put in three cups, or if it said two spoons, she might pour in a whole cup because she prefers it sweet.
But Si-woo wisely didn’t say that and asked.
“So, why suddenly cooking?”
“I wanted to make something for you.”
Ha-yeon, speaking bashfully, was so cute that Si-woo felt dizzy.
“I’d be happy just for you to eat my cooking.”
“Don’t you want me to make it?”
Ha-yeon asked with a downcast look, worried that he might say he didn’t want it. Si-woo tightly held Ha-yeon’s hands.
“I’d be thrilled to the point of fainting, but I don’t want you to go through the trouble.”
“No, I didn’t feel like it was a ha$sle at all because I was thinking about you eating it.”
If someone else had seen them, they would have shaken their heads, calling them the epitome of a cheesy couple, as the two were lost in their own world, exuding a pink aura.
“I’m really happy.”
Si-woo lowered his eyes and whispered. Ha-yeon wrapped her arms around his neck.
“Kiss me.”
Si-woo immediately kissed her to the point of breathlessness. After a while, he slightly parted his lips, playing with Ha-yeon’s hair and speaking softly.
“There’s still some time…”
“It doesn’t matter if there’s no time.”
With that, Ha-yeon grabbed Si-woo’s clothes with both hands and pulled him closer.
* * *
“Yeah, Si-woo… Just a moment…”
Ha-yeon fidgeted. Si-woo did not let her go until the elevator reached the first floor. They had done it once in the kitchen in the morning, and once while washing up, but it seemed they were still not satisfied.
As they exited the elevator, they walked hand in hand, lost in each other, unaware that the lobby atmosphere felt different from usual.
“You look happy.”
A voice suddenly spoke up. Ha-yeon and Si-woo were startled and turned around, speaking at the same time.
“Father!”
“Captain!”
Alex, dressed in a military uniform adorned with numerous medals, was sitting on the lobby sofa. On the other sofa, his aide sat with perfect posture.
Ha-yeon, astonished, asked.
“Aren’t you going to work?”
“Thinking about it.”
Alex did not answer directly but continued with his own statement.
“You should just get married.”
The two were momentarily at a loss for words. They hadn’t expected such a solution.
Si-woo opened his mouth to respond.
“No.”
In the meantime, Ha-yeon spoke abruptly. Si-woo looked at Ha-yeon without realizing it. However, Ha-yeon, not noticing Si-woo’s gaze, said to Alex.
“Are we in the Middle Ages? Are you suggesting we should get married just because we’ve been dating?”
Alex looked at his daughter as if she had spoken well.
“I’m a medieval person at heart, and your boyfriend is from the Joseon Dynasty. If you didn’t like it, you should have thought it through.”
Feeling he had said something wrong, but before Ha-yeon could correct him, Alex continued.
“What if you two break up? You two will be seeing each other for the rest of your lives.”
The two responded simultaneously.
“Then we’ll go back to how things were.”
“That won’t happen.”
Ha-yeon and Si-woo looked at each other.
“Going back to how things were?”
Si-woo asked, incredulous. Ha-yeon realized Si-woo had taken her words literally.
“I was talking about ‘if’ we break up, not that we will.”
But Si-woo’s face showed no sign of being convinced.
“So, you’re considering the possibility of breaking up?”
“Didn’t you hear what I said? I was talking about ‘if.’”
“Why even consider the possibility?”
“Well, that was my father’s…”
As Ha-yeon expressed her frustration and pointed at Alex, Si-woo seemed to have completely ignored her.
“Do you understand the dictionary definition of ‘if’? It means ‘in case of unexpected circ*mstances.’ It inherently implies some possibility of realization.”
Ha-yeon momentarily felt absurd at the thought of knowing the dictionary meaning of ‘if’.
“Let me be clear: I’m not saying I want that. It means that even if something truly unforeseen happens and we break up, I won’t sever ties with you.”
Ha-yeon thought this was a rational explanation, but Si-woo’s expression grew increasingly tense.
“Should I be thankful for that?”
“So you’re saying you’d rather live as if we don’t know each other at all if we break up?”
Ha-yeon was suddenly getting angry, wondering if that was the case.
“So why even consider the possibility of breaking up…”
As he spoke, Si-woo shook his hand in frustration.
“Forget it.”
Ha-yeon, feeling agitated, retorted.
“What’s this? Why stop talking?”
“What’s the point of talking to someone who doesn’t understand rational discussion?”
“So you think I’m the irrational one? Me?”
At that moment, Alex stood up and spoke.
“I should head to work.”
But the two were so absorbed in their argument that they didn’t notice his departure. Alex, on the other hand, looked quite satisfied.
His aide, following behind, commented discreetly.
“I didn’t know you had this side to you.”
“I’m surprised myself.”
Alex said as he walked away. Meanwhile, Si-woo and Ha-yeon continued their argument, oblivious to the pa$sing pedestrians who were watching them.
* * *
“Such an old-fashioned, boring man who should have been in a coffin by now!”
Ha-yeon threw her backpack in frustration. He had indeed been in a coffin before, but right now, she was so angry that she couldn’t even think about it.
“When did I ever say I wanted to break up? I was just talking about ‘if.’ Just ‘if’! Is it worth getting so upset over that?”
“Being a couple is complicated.”
Myung-jin muttered, watching the scene. Regardless, Ha-yeon continued to fume.
“Even my father… He’s suggesting marriage just after we’ve started dating. Does that make sense?”
Myung-jin seemed to be thinking about something, then turned her chair and asked.
“Do you not want to marry him?”
Ha-yeon looked at Myung-jin in disbelief.
“Why are you asking this too? It’s not like it’s happening now.”
“Do you have any intention of marrying him?”
“Of course.”
“Wow.”
Ha-yeon furrowed her brow at Myung-jin’s reaction.
“What kind of response is that?”
“You’re saying you’d marry your first boyfriend?”
Ha-yeon stood with a defiant posture.
“Look.”
Myung-jin looked puzzled.
“What?”
“He’s the CEO of the ISLE Group. He may look like that, but he’s incredibly kind. He’s good at cooking and so on. Imagine the rest yourself. Would you settle for someone else if you were in my position?”
Myung-jin swallowed a sound of realization.
“I was truly foolish. So, what’s the problem?”
Ha-yeon shrugged her shoulders.
“Marriage feels like one stage is completed, and the next stage opens up. But I haven’t even finished any stage, let alone start one. It’s unrelated to Si-woo, but anyway, it’s not the right time for marriage yet.”
Myung-jin, chewing on the end of a pen.
“I understand your lover’s feelings. You’re young, beautiful, and, considering it, you’re the daughter of someone who’s like a mentor to him. He might inevitably feel inadequate.”
Ha-yeon frowned. Myung-jin continued.
“And then you threw in ‘I’m not getting married!’? I think he is quite disheartened right now.”
“Si-woo is disheartened…?”
Ha-yeon had not thought about it that way and muttered, then said to AI Like.
“Call Si-woo.”
Seeing this, Myung-jin could only shake her head. Love arguments were not something she wanted to be involved in.
After the dialing tone, Si-woo answered the call.
[Yes.]
