Alien Bar: Found a Wizard Girl, Gale Sword - Chapter 31: First fight.
Lanya waved her staff, and a gust of wind blade cut through the air, sweeping past the boar’s head. The boar’s ears twitched, showing signs of awakening, but it only let out a snorting sound without opening its eyes.
Leon looked sympathetically at Lanya. Such a large target lying still on the ground couldn’t even be hit; no wonder no team wanted her.
Seria, on the other hand, was even more perplexed. While she might not understand magic, she had seen others cast spells. How could she miss from such a short distance? Was it intentional?
“Let me handle it.”
“If you have powerful magic that can finish it off directly, go ahead and use it. It’s sleeping now, which is a perfect opportunity for a long-range ambush.”
“I only know basic magic.”
“Is that so?” Seria raised an eyebrow skeptically, clearly not quite convinced.
Regardless of whether she believed him or not, Leon raised his staff. Fire elements surged within the jet-black staff, converging into a flame the size of a soybean. It then began to expand, swiftly growing to the size of a basketball.
At this point, it was reaching its limit. The structure of entry-level magic could only sustain this much magic power. Any more, and the fireball would explode right in front of him.
The wild boar in the mud seemed to sense the gathering magic power and suddenly opened its eyes.
“Ah, it’s awake! Quickly, hit it!” Lanya urged rapidly.
Leon swung his staff, and the fireball swiftly shot toward the wild boar. However, it had already stood up, propelled by its four legs. It kicked up splatters of black mud as it agilely dodged the attack.
Seria couldn’t believe what she was seeing. He missed it too? Could it be that he sensed my intention and is deliberately concealing his strength?
No, I must find a way to expose his true abilities.
As the rampaging wild boar charged toward them, Seria shouted, “Keep your distance, I’ll hold it off.”
Leon quickly grabbed Lanya and retreated, running about thirty meters before stopping. He turned around to see the frenzied wild boar already at Seria’s front. If those spear-like tusks struck her, they would definitely pierce right through her.
Finally, Seria moved. She leaped, evading the tusks, and at the same time, she stomped heavily on the boar’s head. Then, like a soaring eagle, she rose high into the air. In mid-air, she spun around like a drill and descended again, landing heavily on the boar’s head.
Leon could faintly hear the technique’s name that Seria loudly called out.
“Whirlwind Dragon Kick!”
Boom!
A heavy thud resounded.
This single stomp seemed to carry the weight of a thousand pounds. The robust boar’s limbs went limp, and its massive head slammed heavily onto the ground.
Such a magnificent combat skill left Leon and Lanya, who were watching from a distance, in awe. Unconsciously, they opened their mouths in astonishment.
Just as Leon thought the battle was over, the boar shook its head and managed to stagger back onto its feet. Its enormous eyes were bloodshot and gleaming red.
Finally regaining its footing, the boar noticed the humans standing atop its head. It let out a piercing shriek and violently shook its head, attempting to dislodge the humans from its back.
“To withstand the full force of my Whirlwind Dragon Kick, what a tenacious beast!”
Seria soared into the air and landed on the boar’s back. She shouted towards Leon and Lanya’s direction, “It has lost its sanity, quickly attack it with magic!”
Several wind blades sliced across the boar’s back, cutting off a few tufts of hair and unintentionally tearing through Seria’s knee-high socks.
“You little brat, were you intentionally aiming for me?” Seria took a deep breath, widening her beautiful eyes. If she hadn’t reacted swiftly, more than just her socks could have been torn.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to!” Lanya apologized in a panicked voice.
Boom!
With a resounding thud, Leon’s fireball struck the boar’s head, searing its coarse coat but failing to deliver a substantial blow. The boar’s response, however, was anything but negligible. In a frenzy, it snapped its head around, releasing an ear-piercing howl, and charged recklessly toward Leon and Lanya, driven by a thirst for vengeance. “It’s closing in! Leon, what should we—”
Lanya’s voice broke off as fear held her in its grip, causing her legs to clench together and trembling uncontrollably.
“Run, there’s no other choice!”
Having cast a spell to enhance his speed, Leon guided Lanya as they raced ahead, the pounding of their hearts in sync with their rapid steps.
The enraged wild boar zoomed past the spot where the two had been standing just moments before, missing them by a hair’s breadth. In a blur of motion, it executed a sharp pivot, casting mud and debris into the air as it redirected its frenetic charge toward the fleeing duo.
Seria stood atop the boar, composed like a knight, her gaze locked on the disheveled Leon and Lanya, attempting to glean something from the situation.
“Don’t pretend anymore, show your true abilities!”
However, the two were merely fleeing, desperately running for their lives, showing no signs of pretense.
Leon and Lanya raced on, struggling to shake off the rampaging boar that was determined to close in. Their eyes scanned their surroundings, seeking a means to outwit the relentless pursuer. The marshland stretched out flatly, surrounded by barren fields; any direction they chose would inevitably lead to their capture. There was only that place, and as long as they reached that place, they would be safe.
The large tree at the center of the marsh likely acted as a sunshade for the wild boar. Its trunk was robust, adorned with abundant branches and leaves that cast a cool shade over the marsh.
At this point, there was no time to worry about getting dirty; survival was paramount Guiding Lanya with urgency, Leon charged toward the marsh, her trembling voice echoing behind, “Leon, where are you going? That’s a chasm over there!”
Pressed for time, Leon had no luxury to explain. With determination, he scooped her up, moving forward with unwavering resolve, finally plunging into the mire.
The cold, slippery black mud surged into his pants, feeling like wet, licking tongues caressing his lower legs. A pungent smell permeated the air.
Lanya clung tightly around his neck, lifting her hips in a desperate bid to avoid sinking into the abyss-like mud below. As they ran, a cold mud spatter landed on her fair neck, causing her petite frame to stiffen.
When she saw the massive wild boar quickly closing in from behind, she exclaimed, “It’s catching up!”
Only about ten meters separated Leon from the towering tree, while the boar trailed closely behind, a mere three or four meters away. Mud droplets from the boar’s wild run began to lash against Leon’s neck.
Ultimately, his speed couldn’t surpass the boar’s rolling in the mire; this was the boar’s home turf.
He used all his strength to toss Lanya toward the big tree.
“Quick, climb up the tree!”
Thud!
Lanya fell into the icy, soft mud. As she struggled to sit up, her eyes had lost their luster, as if her soul had been drained, rendering her motionless.
“Don’t stand there stunned, climb the tree!” Leon’s urgent shout snapped her back to reality.
Gazing blankly at the scene behind Leon, Lanya’s lips moved, her voice an absentminded whisper, “But I… don’t know how to climb.”
Suddenly, she burst into an eerie laughter, her expression gloomy. “Heh, hehe, I’m dirty now, I can’t… go back.”
Leon froze, was he going to sacrifice himself in vain?
But soon he realized something was off—why hadn’t the wild boar charged over yet?
At that moment, a loud shout came from behind him, “Quick, climb up the tree!”
Swiftly turning around, he witnessed a sight etched forever in his memory. Seria, unnoticed before, had jumped into the mud, positioning herself between the charging boar and them. With both hands gripping the formidable tusks, she held her ground against the monstrous beast.
A petite and adorable girl, standing up to the charging wild boar like it was a dark war machine—the impact of this scene left Leon in shock for a couple of seconds before he snapped back to reality.
A delicate and charming young girl, standing firm against the brute force of the boar, the impact of this scene left Leon momentarily stunned before he sprang into action. Rushing to the base of the tree, he pulled Lanya—still muttering her curse—off the muddy ground and helped her get to safety.
