After Transmigrating Into the Book, I picked Up the Protagonist-Shou - Chapter 39 Part 1
“Who? What did you do?”
“Xiao Ling, Xiao Jun? Where are you?”
“Junior Brother?”
Sun Xiaohu was so nervous that sweat dripped from his forehead. Just as he drew his sword, a whip lashed his wrist. He cried out in pain, his fingers loosened, and the sword fell to the ground at his feet.
“Shout all you want, no one will come to save you,” said a sinister voice, laughing.
At the same time, someone took out a spiritual pearl, illuminating the scene inside the dome.
Sun Xiaohu closed his eyes against the brightness. When he opened them again, he found himself in an enclosed space, facing four people and a dog. The two in front were cracking their knuckles and looking at him with ill intentions.
“Senior Brother, are you alright?” Chu Wenfeng looked at the pale-faced Chu Wenfeng behind him.
The latter still seemed angry, his lips pressed tight, saying nothing.
“What do you want? Where are the others?” Sun Xiaohu leaned against the wall, thinking that these four old, weak, sickly people with a small dog didn’t seem like his match, so he let his guard down.
“What do we want?” Xie Shuci gritted his teeth and looked at Sun Xiaohu’s right hand, the very hand that touched the Little Blind. “We want to beat you up! Great King, bite him!”
At Xie Shuci’s command, the dog let out a howl and transformed into a half-human, tall red snow wolf. It bared its teeth at Sun Xiaohu, kicked off the ground with its hind legs, and pounced at him.
“Little Wen, attack!” Xie Shuci grabbed a wooden stick he had picked up earlier, standing behind to look for a chance to deal extra damage.
“Courting death?” Sun Xiaohu sneered, bending down to pick up his fallen sword, but suddenly he heard a “swish” as a flying dagger embedded itself in the sword, splitting it in two.
The red snow wolf pounced on him, opening its mouth wide and aiming for his neck.
Sun Xiaohu countered with a palm strike to the wolf’s abdomen, sending it flying. However, before he could catch his breath, a nine-section whip followed closely behind.
Chu Wenfeng exuded a cold and sharp aura, his youthful look gone, replaced with a piercing gaze. “Sun Xiaohu, you brought this upon yourself.”
With that, he swung his whip at Sun Xiaohu again. Sun Xiaohu leaped away from his spot, landing several feet away, and sneered, “Just you?”
“Try me.”
If it was before, Chu Guiyi would have stopped Chu Wenfeng in time, but this time, he just watched coldly without saying a word.
Great King spun in mid-air, kicked off with both legs and shot like an arrow, pouncing on Sun Xiaohu from behind.
Caught off guard, Sun Xiaohu was knocked to the ground. Great King bit into his shoulder, tearing off a piece of flesh.
“Ah!” Sun Xiaohu screamed in pain.
Great King, as if seeking praise, looked at Xie Shuci, baring his bloodied fangs and sticking out his tongue at him.
Watching this scene, Xie Shuci gripped the wooden stick tightly, as his scalp tingled. “Thank you, I guess!”
Sun Xiaohu, enraged, gathered spiritual power in his palm, forming an ice spike, and without hesitation, thrust it towards the Great King’s neck.
“Watch out!” Xie Shuci’s heart skipped a beat. Ignoring his fear, he dashed forward and swung the wooden stick, hitting Sun Xiaohu’s arm heavily.
The spiritual power in Sun Xiaohu’s palm dissipated instantly, and he glared at Xie Shuci menacingly.
“Courting Death!”
Xie Shuci shrank back under his glare. In the next moment, Sun Xiaohu kicked the Great King aside and leaped towards Xie Shuci.
Terrified by Sun Xiaohu’s aggressive approach, Xie Shuci turned and ran. “Big Brother, it’s a misunderstanding! My hand slipped, I swear!”
Seeing Xie Shuci fleeing pathetically, Chu Wenfeng gritted his teeth and couldn’t help but curse. “Are you an idiot? You even have the bronze pill cauldron; his spiritual power depletes faster than yours. Fight him!”
“You’re right!” Xie Shuci stopped. They had five against one; what was there to fear? After all, he was also a cultivator!
“Chase me? Huh? You dare chase me?!” Xie Shuci turned around, swinging the stick imbued with spiritual power. Unfortunately, his attack lacked technique and order, and in a few simple moves, Sun Xiaohu easily grabbed the other end of the stick.
Sun Xiaohu sneered at him. “Big Brother… it’s all a misunderstanding…”
Chu Wenfeng, feeling frustrated, yelled, “Kick him! Use your spiritual power to kick him!”
“I don’t know how to fight!”
Xie Shuci noticed the brat was just watching from the side and cursed angrily.
With a roar, Xie Shuci gathered spiritual power at his feet, closed his eyes, and kicked forward randomly. He felt himself hit something, and a dark figure was sent flying several meters away. With a “thud,” Sun Xiaohu’s body crashed heavily against the rock wall.
Xie Shuci, “…”
He is too weak!
Sun Xiaohu suppressed the urge to curse and propped himself up on the ground, but before he could move, the red snow wolf pounced on him again. Chu Wenfeng too swung his whip, lashing Sun Xiaohu repeatedly.
“Shout! Keep shouting! Weren’t you going to torture us? Come on then!”
“You’re bullying with numbers! You better kill me today, or I swear I’ll make you pay!”
“Fine, I’ll kill you today!”
Xie Shuci didn’t expect Sun Xiaohu to be so useless; he felt like this guy was just a paper tiger. Let alone Chu Wenfeng, but he might not even be able to beat Xie Shuci himself.
Losing interest, he tossed away the wooden stick and went to comfort the Little Blind’s wounded heart.
Xie An stood behind Chu Guiyi with his head lowered. Usually, when he heard Xie Shuci approaching, he would lift his head. This time, even when Xie Shuci stood in front of him, he didn’t react at all.
“Xie An?” Xie Shuci called softly.
Xie An’s long eyelashes trembled, and his eyelids lifted slightly before dropping again, as his lips remained stubbornly pressed together.
Seeing this, Xie Shuci sighed, cursing Sun Xiaohu again in his heart. Little Blind had a particularly strong sense of pride. As a man, being teased by others must have made him feel terrible.
“Let Brother Shuci see if you’re hurt.”
Xie Shuci gently touched his cheek, his fingers lightly brushing the spot where Sun Xiaohu had touched. “Were you scared, huh? Don’t listen to that idiot.”
The touch of Xie Shuci’s hand was like a gentle breeze, softly caressing Xie An’s left cheek.
Xie An slightly tilted his head, pressing his face into Xie Shuci’s palm. His long eyelashes brushed against Xie Shuci’s fingertips as if finally finding a bit of comfort.
“Don’t be angry, Little Wen avenged you.” Xie Shuci stepped forward and hugged him.
Xie An nodded obediently. Then, as if remembering something, he frowned, clasped his hand around Xie Shuci’s waist, and started groping without restraint.
“Hey, what are you doing?” Xie Shuci patted the back of his hand.
Xie An’s jawline tensed as he didn’t respond. His large hand roamed around Xie Shuci’s waist. His face darkened immediately and he pushed Xie Shuci away.
Xie Shuci was puzzled, not understanding why he suddenly got angry again. He leaned forward and asked, “What’s wrong? What are you looking for?”
Xie An pressed his lips together, his breathing heavy, clutching the bell hanging from his own waist, refusing to talk to Xie Shuci.
“Are you still angry? I’ll go teach him another lesson for you.” Saying this, Xie Shuci turned to head towards Sun Xiaohu.
After taking two steps, Xie An pulled him back from behind.
“Xie An?” Xie Shuci looked at him in confusion.
Xie An unhooked the bell from his waist, holding it up in front of Xie Shuci. He placed his left hand on Xie Shuci’s waist, seemingly asking silently, “Where is your bell?”
Xie Shuci was momentarily stunned. He looked at Xie An’s incredibly beautiful face, which now bore a touch of slight resentment, making him look irresistibly cute.
Without waiting for Xie Shuci’s response, Xie An shoved the bell back into his hand, saying coldly, “I don’t want it anymore.”
“Pfft—” Xie Shuci couldn’t help but laugh.
Xie An shot him a chilly glance, then turned and walked a few steps away, deliberately putting some distance between them.
Suppressing his laughter, Xie Shuci thought to himself how someone could be so cute even when throwing a tantrum.
He quickly caught up and placed the bell back into Xie An’s palm, smiling, “The bell isn’t lost! I put it away.”
Xie An turned his head, half-believing, and Xie Shuci quickly pulled out the carefully stored bell from his waistband, shaking it in front of Xie An. “See? I wasn’t lying. Chu Wenfeng and I were hiding before, so I was afraid the bell’s sound would give us away, thus I put it away.”
Xie An’s expression finally softened a bit. He took the bell from Xie Shuci and meticulously tied it back around his waist.
Seeing how seriously he was tying the bell, Xie Shuci couldn’t help but smile, “Here, let me tie it for you.”
Xie An blocked him with one hand, shook his head slightly, and tied the bell back himself.
Xie Shuci couldn’t help but purse his lips.
Suddenly thinking of something, Xie Shuci nudged Xie An’s arm and asked, “Little blind, why do you insist that we both wear the bells?”
Xie An lowered his eyes, his gaze faint.
Under Xie Shuci’s curious gaze, he remained silent for a moment before speaking, “So I can know it’s you.”
Xie Shuci stared at him, stunned, then nodded. “Oh…”
There seemed to be a hint of disappointment in his voice, which even he didn’t notice.
Making sure that Little Blind had no lingering trauma, Xie Shuci returned to Chu Guiyi’s side.
Under the dual torment of Chu Wenfeng and the Great King, Sun Xiaohu’s clothes were almost reduced to rags, and his skin was bruised and battered. At first, he had the strength to resist, but after the Subduing Dragon artifact absorbed too much of his spiritual power, he didn’t even have the strength to curse anymore.
Great King simply reverted to his small dog form, leaving a series of bloody wounds on him.
Sun Xiaohu, drenched in sweat and barely conscious, finally heard Chu Guiyi speak.
“Wenfeng, that’s enough,” Chu Guiyi said calmly.
Chu Wenfeng stopped his whipping, frowned, and asked, “Aren’t we going to kill him? He won’t let this go.”
Chu Guiyi replied, “Why stain your hands with his blood?”
“But…”
“Just destroy his Golden Core,” Chu Guiyi said nonchalantly.
Xie Shuci couldn’t help but feel a chill down his spine. It wasn’t that he pitied Sun Xiaohu; someone like Sun Xiaohu deserved to have what he valued most taken away. And it was clear that Sun Xiaohu valued his cultivation the most. That kind of damage and blow to him would probably be more severe than taking his life.
However, Chu Guiyi had always given him the impression of being gentle and kind, so this sudden shift was somewhat shocking.
When Chu Guiyi looked at him, Xie Shuci instinctively took half a step back. Realizing what he was doing, his steps froze.
Chu Guiyi seemed to notice his retreat. His gaze trembled slightly, and although he wanted to say something, he swallowed his words.
“I…” Xie Shuci tried to explain, but Chu Guiyi had already turned his head away.
Behind them, Xie An quietly observed the scene.
Xie Shuci was afraid of blood and killing; he would always shrink back and try to avoid it.
“No… Chu Guiyi, how dare you?! How dare you?! If you touch my Golden Core, the Sun family will never let you go!” Sun Xiaohu shouted incredulously, his whole body trembling with rage.
Chu Guiyi shifted his gaze indifferently. “A mere Sun family, I’ve never taken them seriously. Wenfeng, do it.”
Chu Wenfeng nodded, “Yes.”
“You can’t do this to me! You can’t do this to me!” Sun Xiaohu’s desperate voice echoed under the dome. Chu Wenfeng approached him expressionlessly. With every step forward, Sun Xiaohu’s face turned a shade paler.
“Shuci, don’t watch,” Chu Guiyi said with his back to Xie Shuci.
Xie Shuci shook his head. He had seen bloodier scenes. “He brought this upon himself.”
Chu Guiyi was momentarily stunned, then slowly turned to look at him.
Xie Shuci smiled at him.
Not long after, Sun Xiaohu fainted, unable to catch his breath.
