4023-chapter-12-part-2
A few days later, someone came to Marquis Starr’s residence.
Unaware, Emily went out to the garden to gather flowers for a vase. She collected the stems of various flowers, including lisianthus, anemones, dahlias, and didiscus. After trying different combinations she finally achieved a satisfactory arrangement. A bright smile couldn’t help but appear on Emily’s face.
Crown Prince Lucius, holding a bouquet of flowers, approached Emily and witnessed the scene, causing him to drop the flowers onto the ground. In front of Emily’s smile, everything he had prepared seemed inadequate. Alvin, the butler, observed Lucius’s dazed state and walked over to Emily to deliver the news.
“Madam, His Highness the Crown Prince has arrived.”
“You mean Prince Lucius?”
Emily’s eyes widened in surprise. When she turned around, the prince was indeed standing shyly, waving his hand in greeting.
“You didn’t know? He came after receiving your invitation…”
Emily shouted in a low voice that Lucius couldn’t hear.
“How would I know and even invite the crown prince?”
“What? So you’re saying His Highness lied?”
Emily pressed her temple as if she had a headache.
“Since the guest has arrived, bring some tea.”
“Yes, understood.”
Alvin nodded with an uneasy expression. Emily struggled to put a smile on her face and bowed toward Lucius. After receiving her greeting, Lucius slowly approached Emily. As Lucius approached slowly his face looked very familiar to Emily.
“Hmm, have we met somewhere?”
Emily blurted out and immediately regretted it. It sounded like a cheesy pick-up line.
But after hearing Emily’s words, Lucius smiled deeply. He was overjoyed that she remembered him.
“We met at a banquet. On the stairs to the garden side of the imperial palace.”
At his words, Emily’s memory suddenly returned, and her face turned pale.
“Oh, my apologies, I didn’t know it was Your Highness. I thought you were just… a somewhat unfortunate young man.”
Back then, she thought Lucius was a handsome, but unfortunate young man with a slightly loose screw.
“I should be the one apologizing, not you.”
They exchanged words as they sat at a tea table set up in the greenhouse. Alvin quickly arranged the refreshments and left very slowly when he walked away. Before Alvin left, he sent a signal to Emily with his gaze.
‘Should I leave altogether, or should I stand here as background?’
‘Just go.’
Emily subtly shook her head in response to the signal. Even Lucius seemed enchanted by her every move.
Unlike when they met at the party, Emily had her hair loosely tied to one side and wore a light dress. Her innocent face, with almost no makeup, glowed white, resembling an angel from a fairy tale.
After confirming that Alvin had left, Emily opened her mouth.
“Ahem, but Your Highness, you said you received my invitation.”
Lucius, who regained his composure at Emily’s voice, responded with bewildered expression.
“Yes, didn’t you reply to my letter?”
“You wrote me a letter?”
At Emily’s surprised reaction, Lucius realized that something was wrong.
“Someone must have played a joke.”
“Hmm, what a strange prank. Could I possibly find out the contents of the letter Your Highness sent me?”
At those words, Lucius blushed. It seemed that he had only thought about expressing those thoughts internally and never expected to have to say them out loud.
‘Even though I have no idea what kind of person you are, I fell in love with you at first sight. I want to have a deeper conversation with you.’
[T/n: I believe that is an excerpt from his letter or at least his internal thoughts]

Translator note: Don’t get me wrong I love Killian but the prince is such a cute lovestruck goof. He kind of gives off Disney princess vibes , like falling in love at first sight. I wouldn’t be surprised if busts into a love song ~Mae
