“It’s an honor to be called an extra,” Emily remarked, clicking her tongue at the unnamed role. She diligently transcribed the contents of the original work into her notebook

The Giuliano family is the sworn enemy of the Starr family. They did all sorts of despicable things to prevent the growing power of the fledgling Starr Family. Among them, the most malicious act was an attempt to kill Emily, who was pregnant at the time, to shake Killian’s mental state.

After losing his wife in that way, whenever he looked at Daniel, Killian was tormented by his own incompetence. Consequently, he committed the mistake of neglecting him, leading to his own downfall.

Unfortunately, Daniel never reconciled with Killian and eventually surpassed him, taking over as the boss. Emily couldn’t help but think that if it weren’t for the Giuliano family, she wouldn’t have died during a difficult labor, and Daniel might have had a happy childhood.

However, as someone who already knew the contents of the original work, Emily’s fear of pregnancy and childbirth had reached its peak, making her terrified to share a bed with Killian.

“I’ll go to sleep alone first.”

It was a crude temporary solution but for now it worked.

‘I can’t do this every time since I’m married, but I have to avoid sleeping with Killian until I get contraceptive pills or get divorced.’

With her eyes tightly closed, Emily forcibly tried to fall asleep.

The ticking sound of the clock seemed unusually loud today.

“Damn it, I can’t fall asleep.”

“I’m curious why you’re trying so hard to sleep instead of spending the first night together.”

Startled by the sudden voice, she sat up in bed.

“When did you come in?”

“I just came in.”

Killian looked rather sharp, as he unwrapped his Cravat. Emily looked at him and bit her nails. Seeing Emily in a state of uneasiness, Killian clicked his tongue low and sat on the sofa across from the bed.

“Leaving would probably help you sleep better, but I need to protect your honor, so I’ll sleep here tonight.”

As Killian said, it would damage Emily’s honor if the couple stayed in separate rooms without spending the first night together. Surprised that he even thought of that, She looked at Killian in surprise.

“What’s with that look?”

“Are you sure you don’t mind sleeping there?”

“It’s a top-of-the-line sofa, so don’t worry.”

Having only seen his blackened state in the original work, Emily was curious about Killian’s true personality. Based on his actions so far, his original personality didn’t seem particularly pleasant, but at least he didn’t seem completely tactless.

He even considered her honor. With a determined heart, Emily gathered her courage and spoke up.

“Can I ask you something?”

“What is it?”

“Well… I was wondering why you told me not to come to the reception earlier.”

“That’s…”

Killian examined Emily’s face with an indiscernible gaze and then answered

“Because you seemed afraid of the guests.” 

“Oh.”

Emily, who didn’t know it would be obvious, was a little embarrassed.

But did she think that’s the only thing that was obvious? 

Killian was closely watching Emily’s reluctance to enter the ceremony, the way she flinched as she glanced at him, and even how she recoiled slightly during the vow’s kiss.

So it was easy to notice how reluctant she was to get married.

“Thank you for thinking about me.”

When Emily answered in a crawling voice, Killian sighed and stood up. 

“Then I have to change my clothes… .”

“Oh! Sorry. I’m going to pull the blanket over myself!”

Blushing, Emily quickly flipped the blanket over herself. Killian, who had been momentarily taken aback, forced himself to speak in an indifferent tone.

“You don’t have to. I’m going to go to the bathroom anyway.”

She peered her face out from under the blanket. 

“Then I’ll be waiting quietly.”

“You can go to bed first.”

“… Yes, thank you.”

When Killian went into the bathroom, Emily was completely out of the covers. She recalled a moment ago when Killian had sent her to her room first in consideration of her fear of the mafia. Maybe he was a lot more friendly than she thought.

‘He seems to treat me with sincerity…. Should I ask why he married me?’
