Chapter 9
‘Aeon!?’
There was no need for me to turn around my head to check the source of that voice.
‘He suddenly appeared like that.’
I was constantly on guard, worried that Aeon might come this way. Even while I was talking with Rudis, I kept checking behind me.
But by the time I got up, there was clearly no traces of him, but he appeared so suddenly.
“Is it so surprising that I appeared suddenly?”
Aeon said it with a chuckle, as if he had been reading my thoughts.
“It’s a space movement magic. I was in a bit of a hurry this time.”
Contrary to what he said, Aeon seemed extremely relaxed.
It was the composure of someone who knew from the beginning that I possibly couldn’t get away from him.
“Who are you?”
Rudis asked Aeon.
“Pardien. He is the lord of the magic tower of this empire.”
The man next to Rudis bowed his head and immediately said his greetings to Aeon. Soon everyone of them started bowing and kept greeting him one by one by introducing themselves.
‘Was he really that great?’
But instead of lowering his head, Rudis asked a question to Aeon.
“Do you know this lady?”
“Yes.”
“If it’s not rude, what kind of relationship do you have with her?”
“There’s nothing rude about the question you asked me.”
Aeon, whose eyes were still fixed on me, answered as he interrupted Rudis.
“Mine.”
“What?”
He, then changed his answer as if he wanted to make it easier for Rudis to understand.
“In other words, she is my person.”
Only then did Aeon looked at Rudis and smiled. I couldn’t tell what Rudis’ face looked like.
Aeon’s words brought shame and fear to me at the same time.
‘It was mine, then it means I belong to him.’
Aeon completely treated me as his property.
“The magic tower lord….. I think this woman….”
Rudis’ servant whispered amongst themselves as if it was something of a great deal.
It seemed like they were thinking somthing amongst themselves. They might be thinking about, not interfering into my matters any more and wanted to get out of this place.,
Looking at their attitude, it seemed to me that they were thinking about Aeon and my relationship. Their expression clearly depicted that they would be clearly thinking –
‘It wouldn’t be good to get involved with the people I met for the first time.’
‘Don’t misunderstand me. Because it’s not like that.’
I shot a glance at those rude servants.
“Now, please come this way.”
Aeon held out his hand to me. I shook my head.
“You can’t force me to go with you anymore.”
My legs also hurt, so I sat down.
“If you think about it, it’s really strange. Why did the Magic Tower Lord’s person fell into a place like this? I don’t think you came here to hunt.”
It seemed like there was an unusual atmosphere which was forming between those two.
Rudis asked a question in an exaggerated tone, as if he were playing a play.
Having read the original, I knew that this was Rudis’s way of getting angry.
Only then did Aeon turn his gaze to Rudis.
“What’s your name?”
What came out of Aeon’s mouth was not an answer to Rudis’ question, but a different question.
“It is an honor to introduce myself to the great Lord of the Mage Tower. I am called Rudis de Pardiene.”
Aeon glanced at him shortly and looked away. Perhaps because he didn’t wanted to notice Rudis’s fake courtesy or maybe because he didn’t really care.
“You look very much interested in other people’s affairs.”
“You’re talking as if I’m being foolish. But isn’t it natural for a gentleman to help someone in trouble?”
“Someone in trouble?”
Aeon looked at me as if he had never thought about my situation in that scenario. Then he smiled coldly.
“If you’re interested in my person, wouldn’t it be better to just say it so? honesty is a best policy, you know?”
In the killer’s eyes, Rudis’ kindness seemed like he was just trying to steal his prey.
Aeon taunted Rudis by using a word that did not suit him the most.
“Of course I’m interested. A person belonging to the Mage Tower Lord had collapsed in the hunting ground. Now can you explain what happened?”
“If that’s the case, my person can answer it directly.”
Rudis and Aeon’s eyes turned to me at the same time.
“Lady. Do you really know this person?”
I shook my head as hard as I could. It was different from my plan, but now was the time to reveal everything to Rudis.
I clenched my fists and bit my lip for a moment before opening my mouth.
“The Mage Tower owner….”
At that moment, Aeon’s voice rang in my head again.
[Paying a proper penalty for breaking the law and also breaking the contract to become a researcher at the Magic Tower may not seem like a bad condition.]
Anyway, objectively speaking, I was an orphan who broke the law, and that person was a marquis with a clear identity and was also a magic tower lord.
It was very clear on whom people will put their trust and which side they would believe.
